Diabetic - Basic


There are 2 types of Diabetics : 
     1. Diabetics with insulin dependency (type-1)
     2. Diabetics without insulin dependency (type-2)

Diabetics type-1 is mostly caused by genetic impairment of pancreatic function which descend from our parents or grand parents.  Meanwhile, diabetics type-2 is mostly caused by our living pattern and food consumption that leads you to obesity. Beside pancreas, please be ware of other organs such as : Liver (produce glucose), Heart/Cardiac + Vascular system, Kidney, Eyes, and foot area, which can be another collateral damage happen due to this silent killer disease.

Blood Sugar Level : (different doctor/country perhaps has its own standard of measurement to describe below condition - so please consult your doctor first before taking any action forward)
  • Normal         = Blood Sugar 80 - 100 mg/dl (lower than 80 is called Hypoglycemic - Dangerous)
  • Pre Diabetic  = BS 100-125 mg/dl
  • Diabetic        = BS  > 125 mg/dl
There are 3 phases in diabetics : 
      1. Compensation phase : always feel hungry, thirsty, and frequent urinary.
      2. De-Compensation phase : phase 1 + rapid drop of body weight.
      3. Chronic phase : Phase 1 + Phase 2 + impotency, muscular weakness, Diabetic   
          Retinopathy, uncured-wounds.



Always remember, there is no such remedy for diabetic in any type.  Some remedy whether natural or chemical,  only helps you to keep it in good range. Nevertheless your life pattern decide the most result of your blood sugar level.  First thing first, control your carbohydrate consumption.  It doesn't mean to make you hungry, but only to replace the simple carbo into more complex carbo. e.g. Whole milk bread to Wheat bread, white rice to red or black rice or baked potatoes, reduce sugar cane a lot and put a bit diabetics sugar or a bit of rock sugar.  Eat more salad/gado2 and fresh (but not too sweet) fruit, rather than fresh meat. 

For best result please avoid : simple-carbo such as noodle, cake, sweet chocolate, white wheat flour, alcohol, cigar, durian, (sweet) mango, banana,  sugar cane, corn syrup,  soda, lactose in milk, fructose in fruit juice.

Eating for diabetics patient better be :

  • 5 times per day (small amount but often)
  • total of 1500-2500 calorie in max per day including the calorie from the drink (consult a nutritionist for more detail and accuracy)
