Fruits for Diabetic - The Keeper

Congestive Heart Failure disease, especially Dilated Cardiomyopathy, can be resulted by so many causes whether are known or even unknown.  In my case, the  strongest allegation is because of my high or uncontrolled blood sugar level as a diabetic patient.  Since type-2 diabetes is more about controlling our intake and life style pattern, choosing the right and proper fruits will become crucial and a bit complicated.  Fruits are enriched with vitamins, fibers, minerals and calories. All of the substances are important to human body, but we need to control more to its calorie and glucose content.

When choosing fruits for diabetic patients, you have to deeply consider and be sure that the fruits contain LOW Glycemic and Fructose kind of sugar. Fructose has an advantage of being easier to be absorbed into the body without drastically rise up the blood sugar level. It also doesn't need insulin in the absorption process into the blood cells.  Those two things should be your basic knowledge of managing fruits consumption for diabetic patients daily.  Herewith, I try to summarize you some fruits those are quite safe for diabetes : 
  1. Watermelon
  2. Pear 
  3. Strawbery
  4. Plum
  5. Papaya
  6. Guava
  7. Kiwifruit
  8. Lemonade
  9. Apple
  10. Orange 
Of course, all fruits have to be fresh without any additional sweetener when you eat them.  On the other hand, there are also "bad" fruits for diabetic patients such as : Manggo, Banana, Durian, Peach, and most of the time I avoid grapes too.   Please take a note about Durian, because not only contain high glucose, it sometimes contain alcohol as well and I strongly suggest that CHF/DCM patients should not eat Durian.   In Indonesia there are also some fermented food like : Tape, Tape Uli, and also Yoghurt, which have a high sugar and a bit of alcohol (especially Tape and Tape Uli) that I avoid too.  Plain Yoghurt with fresh fructose fruit will be find.
The other factor beside glucose level in fruits, is fiber that help slowing down digestion prosess as well as reducing the glucose absorption into the blood stream. So that, due to its importance, such fruits might be considered to be on your food list too :

  4. Raspberry
  5. Avocado
  6. Apel
  7. Kiwifruit
  8. Strawberry
