Alcohol - Even a healthy heart could lose

I did some article research all over the places about alcohol as beverage; unfortunately I barely discover any of its advantages.  I am an Indonesian who doesn't have any drinking background in my family. Therefore, 2 glass of beer are just enough to turn my skin red and very itchy.  Not cool yeah?  But now it becomes a bless for me, because I don't bother missing smoking and drinking alcohol after having my Ischemic Dilated Cardiomyopathy or Congestive Heart Failure condition.


However, ethanol base liquors have been consumed since millions years ago by human.  Having fun or get drunk was not the original reason why they use alcohol, instead of hygienic purpose, ceremonial usage, or dietary reasons.  There are 3 stage of alcohols, which is primary, secondary, and tertiary.  The secondary and tertiary alcohols are less harmless and used widely in beverages.  But anyway regardless the stage or the name of the alcohols, they are poison to our internal organ especially liver, brain, and heart.  Besides alcohol addiction which will disturb your brain and nerve system, long term alcohol consumption will increase the risk of getting a cirrhotic liver or Hepatitis C or liver cancer in your old age.

Is it the warmth Sensation ?

Many people are mislead by the ancient and shallow thought about how alcoholic beverage will warm up the body in cold environment. It is true to say that alcohol will enlarged the blood vessel and quickly absorb energy from our fat reserve all over the body. In the mean time, our body needs the fat reserve to keep out from experiencing a rapid heat loss.  In other words, alcoholic beverages only give you the "sensation" of being warmer, but on the contrary it will make you feel colder after losing its warmth sensation.  A healthy body doesn't really notice this circumstance, because the body shall have a good adaptation even after the alcohol effect is out.   However, here is the analogy: when you eat a hot chili, and drink cold water after that, it will suddenly eliminate the hot sensation in your mouth.  But what will you fill 10 seconds after that?  The burn is aggravating even more.

So that, I rather suggest to warm your body up by moving all of your body parts, instead of drinking and drinking until you get drunk.  Especially to all patients of dilated cardiomyopathy like me, if you are cold somewhere, don't be tempted to poison your body with alcoholic beverages.  We are different dude.  The other escalating risks could be heart attack (stroke), high blood pressure, and worse arrhythmia.
